Augsburger Philharmoniker Musicians

As the orchestra of the German Mozart-City of Augsburg, we want to make our contribution in culture to sustainable thinking and being.

The Augsburger Philharmonike, founded in 1865, enjoys an excellent reputation as the opera, ballet and symphony orchestra of the city of Augsburg. We serve as the musical flagship of the whole region. The classical repertoire is supplemented by a variety of concert formats such as the series Zukunft(s)musik (Music of the future), a production featuring VR glasses, and a chamber music series organized by the musicians themselves. An extensive music education program, ranging from Crawling Concerts for the youngest to school concerts for young people, offers tomorrow's concert audience the opportunity to immerse themselves in the fantastic world of music. Renowned conductors such as Eugen Jochum and Wolfgang Sawallisch began their careers in Augsburg.

As a musical ambassador of the “city of peace” and “city of water” Augsburg, we strive to promote local climate and environmental projects with the local population. We are very happy to be part of the "Orchester des Wandels" and to work together with many orchestras throughout Germany, exchanging ideas in this stimulating climate protection initiative. We see climate protection as part of our cultural mission and want to take responsibility in times when the climate crisis is progressing unchecked.
