How are our seasons changing due to climate change? And what are the effects of these changes on nature and humans?
Prof. Dr. Astrid Kiendler-Scharr gives scientifically sound answers to these questions in a pre-concert lecture on Friday. The musical program features Haydn's "The Seasons" under the direction of chief conductor Adam Fischer.
During the concert breaks, we welcome the "Phenological Garden Düsseldorf" as guest in the foyer, a group which has been observing and noting typical stages of growth over the course of the year using selected plants since 2008 (beginning of flowering, leaf unfolding, ripening of the fruit, etc.). This data is analyzed in connection with climate and environmental factors and thus provides information about climate change in Düsseldorf.
And of course the chocolate from the "Chocolate Ride" is not to be missed at our climate concerts! However, if you want to get hold of one of the completely emission-free chocolate bars, you should hurry - in our last concerts, the coveted chocolate bars from the Dutch ChocolateMakers were sold out within a very short time.
A few days before the concert, Adam Fischer will set an example for climate protection by planting a tree in the courtyard garden near the concert hall.
"I'm not doing this to calm my 'green conscience'. Rather, I hope that the campaign will be understood as a symbol of what everyone could do personally to protect the climate. We must not expect others to save the environment for us, nor can we remain inactive just because everyone around the world is not pulling together. Our concerts with Haydn's "The Seasons" could offer an opportunity to put your own attitude to the test." (Adam Fischer)
