When it comes to climate protection, the voices of art and culture are also essential. Through their "Climate Workshop" (*Klimawerkstatt*), musicians from the Duisburg Philharmonic curate a self-organized, volunteer-led event that combines music with information on climate change and sustainability. During these sessions, the musicians share the stage with dedicated representatives from regional and international projects who present constructive solutions for combating climate change and promoting nature conservation. This sixth edition of the Climate Workshop focuses on "Sustainable Clothing and Slow Fashion," highlighting initiatives that champion climate-neutral, fair production. Embracing the philosophy of "making and maintaining rather than throwing away," these projects offer creative alternatives to today’s "fast fashion" trend. The fast fashion industry is responsible not only for pollution, the consumption of vast quantities of water, the release of toxic chemicals and harmful microfibers, and massive CO2 emissions, but also for a mountain of waste that grows by approximately 120 million tons every year—including unworn textiles, the remnants of which increasingly threaten habitats in the Global South.

As ensembles from the Duisburg Philharmonic perform works by Georg Philipp Telemann, Johann Sebastian Bach, and Anton Rubinstein, the audience is invited to become part of the performance itself: attendees are encouraged to bring their knitting or crochet projects and let the music inspire their rhythm, stitch by stitch, because effective climate protection is also a matter of finding a shared rhythm.

As always, the Duisburg Philharmonic invites its audience to visit the information booths of the participating initiatives—starting at 6:00 p.m.—to learn about their work, ideas, and proposed solutions. Over a glass of wine, guests can engage in stimulating conversations about the power of music and the necessity for creativity, transformation, and change.
