“The principle of all things is water; everything is made of water, and everything returns to water.” -Thales of Miletus

What one of the first natural philosophers recognized in 500 B.B as existential for life on Earth continues to play a significant role in times of climate change: our water. It is an increasingly scarce resource - and like hydrogen, it is both a beacon of hope and an energy supplier for the future.

The arts have always dealt with the subject of water in a variety of ways. The sea, rivers and streams are omnipresent in literature, fine arts and music, as are rain, ice and snow. Many composers have impressively captured the theme of water in compositions. Whether peacefully falling raindrops (as in Brahms' "Regenlied Sonata") or the whipped up sounds of a sea storm (as in Vivaldi's "La tempesta di mare"), the wide range of human emotions is reflected in the different physical states of water.

The Climate Workshop #3 combines chamber music with accompanying lectures. One is a report on the annual international campaign "RhineCleanUp", which has its organizational seat in Düsseldorf, while the other presents the new hydrogen projects in Duisburg, a modern way of bringing water to our city in the future.
