„Bundle up, it’s getting hotter!“

May 22, 2024, 8:00 p.m.
Braunschweig State Theater

Thanks to the commitment of the musicians of the Braunschweig State Orchestra (Staatsorchester Braunschweig) to the association "Orchester des Wandels e.V.", we can look forward to a climate concert in the main hall of the Braunschweig State Theater for the second time.

This year, there will be a double star cast: the well-known meteorologist Sven Plöger will moderate with entertaining expert knowledge, and the Staatsorchester, under the direction of General Music Director Srba Dinić, will play Alexander Glazunov's rarely performed ballet work "The Seasons" and the energetic overture to the ballet "The Creatures of Prometheus" by Ludwig van Beethoven.

Originally seen in mythology as the bringer of fire and father of human civilization, Prometheus serves also as a symbolic figure for scientific and technological progress and the increasing dominance of man over nature in the context of the climate concert.

In Glazunov's ballet music "The Seasons," winter, spring, autumn and winter are choreographed in four tableaux.
Sven Plöger's weather observations and analyses of climate change give the view of our seasons a contemporary relevance.
