May 15, 2024, 7:30 p.m.
Musensaal, Mannheim Rosengarten
What does the Arctic sound like? Let yourself be carried away into this fascinating world with music from Edvard Grieg's "Peer Gynt", as well as the 7th Symphony by Jean Sibelius and his captivating Violin Concerto in D minor with award-winning violinist Alina Pogostkina taking on the solo part. The leading German researcher of the Arctic, Prof Antje Boetius, talks about her expeditions with the ship Polarstern: not only what she experienced in 30 years in the eternal ice, but also what effects our way of life is having. Another treat: never before seen film footage from the last ArcWatch expedition will be projected on a stage-wide screen.
