Film Viewing: NATURE & SUSTAINABILITY WITH MUSICAL Accompaniment

What does Smetana's “Moldau” have to do with plastic waste from Germany in the Arctic Ocean? Musicians from the Staatsorchester Braunschweig explore this question in their musical accompaniment to the film “The North Drift – Plastic in the Currents”. Rich with impressive nature footage, the award-winning documentary follows a Dresden filmmaker and his Norwegian friend who find plastic waste from Germany by kayak in the Norwegian Arctic and, together with a team of scientists, prove how the waste drifts from our mountains to the Arctic Ocean.

After the concert, there will be an opportunity to mingle and find out more about the orchestra's nature, species and climate protection activities as a member of Orchester des Wandels Association. Also reporting is our Hamburg guest Frank Schweikert, the founder of the German Ocean Foundation (Deutsche Meeresstiftung), who was directly involved in the film with his research ship Aldebaran.
