Orchester des Wandels meets Rheinkrake

Swinging and swimming on the Rhine

July 4, 2026 7:00 p.m.
RheinKrake, Cologne

We have teamed up with the Cologne-based association K.R.A.K.E. to perform works by W.A. Mozart, J. Brahms, and J. Strauss, along with a few tangos, directly on the floating trash-collector in the Rhine (located near the "Zoo" parking area). The audience can watch and listen from the riverbank, enjoying the pleasant lapping of the Rhine while sipping a complimentary, refreshing drink.

The "Rheinkrake" (Rhine Octopus) has been permanently stationed in the Rhine since 2022, collecting waste from the river. To date, over 20,000 items—mostly plastic—have been fished out of the water. Numerous volunteers handle the disposal of this waste, organize cleanup drives along the river, raise awareness through projects and lectures, and conduct scientific studies on the types and quantities of debris floating in the Rhine.

Admission is free; however, we will be collecting donations, with proceeds split between the projects of Orchester des Wandels and Rheinkrake. Seating and restroom facilities are available. We look forward to seeing a large turnout! Please note that the concert will be cancelled in the event of rain.

Performers:
Brigitte Krömmelbein, Violin
Orest Kudlovskyi, Violin
Katharina Arnold, Viola
Jairo Rodriguez Visuerte, Cello
Stefan Rauh, Double Bass
