Back to Nature
May 17, 2024 8:00 p.m.
Meistersingerhalle, Nuremberg
Part of the Initiative PhilCO2 by the musicians of the Staatsphilharmonie Nürnberg
Piedmont is known for its cultural treasures: the Alps, good wine and for FIAT. In his “Trittico” Pizzini first depicts the beauty and tranquility of nature, which is then replaced in the third movement by the feverish hustle and bustle of car manufacturing in Turin. In almost untouched nature, the Älven (Swedish for "river" ) meanders from the spring to the sea, with only a few steamboats to be heard at the harbor. Full of colorful sonority, Atterberg's symphonic poem exhibits the best of the late romantic tradition. Finally, we go completely “back to nature” with Schumann’s “Rhine Symphony”, in a world which has not yet heard anything of industrialization.
PROGRAM:
Carlo Alberto Pizzini: Al Piemonte, sinfonisches Triptychon für Orchester
Kurt Atterberg: Älven – från fjällen till havet, op. 33

Enrique Mazzola, conductor
