Forest. Music. Change.

Kottenforst Nature Reserve, Bonn

Ludwig van Beethoven, who grew up in Bonn between the Rhine and the Siebengebirge, also sought closeness to nature from 1792 during his time in Vienna. His daily walks were leisure time and a source of inspiration. Many paintings show him in nature, above all Joseph Stieler's famous portrait, which captures Beethoven with a stormy hairstyle, red scarf and wild gaze while composing the Missa solemnis. Beethoven's love of nature had almost religious features, as a note from 1815 shows: “Almighty in the forest! I am blessed, happy in the forest; every tree speaks through you. O God! what glory! In such a forest area, in the heights, there is peace and quiet to serve him. "

On today's day of action, we, the musicians of the Beethoven Orchester Bonn, would particularly like to show the diverse connections between nature and music. There are four music stations with ensembles from our orchestra, information stands from instrument makers, many information and a small quiz for children.

Free entry, donations welcome.
